From the Sion Guinness Irish Festival Brochure:
"15 years! The next Guinness Irish Festival will take place the 6th, 7th and 8th August 2009 in Sion/VS, the Swiss Celtic capital. The conviviality, the celebraton and the unforgetable moments will occur at the magnificent “Domaine bourgeoisial des Iles”.
The greatest Celic festival of Switzerland was founded in 1994 and supports until today the Celtic music and its philosophy. Due to the success of last year 2008 with more than 22,000 visitors we decided to celebrate this jubilee on a grand style. We therefore arranged an extraordinary and international program. The celebration starts on Thursday, 6th August with the performance of the Dubliners. This legendary Irish band is on stage since more than 40 years. They honour with their appearance the Guinness Irish Festival with challenging and precious music. Followed by Manau the Celtic enrooted but Breton band.
Friday, 7th August we are happy to welcome Lúnasa. This Irish group was established 1997 and consists of some of the best musicians from Ireland.
We are much honored to welcome Sharon Shannon and Shane McGowan for the second time at our festival. Sharon Shannon belongs definitely to the favorite acts. Every time she enthuses the audience again with her smile, her amiability and her exceptional talent. It is always a great joy to have Sharon among us. This second evening of the Festival will end with the Walliser Band of Anach Cuan who were already 2008 performing and who will make the public dance.
Saturday the party will end but not before the presentation of further musical highlights. The Pint a virtuosic Swiss group will open the evening, followed by Yao a Breton band. Later in the evening we expect another great appearance of the Chietiains. These international ambassadors for Irish music are known all over the world. They sold over 300 million albums.
The 15th edition of the Guinness Irish Festival will definitely end with the appearance of For men and a Dog. This band from Northern Ireland represents contemporary Irish music. Good vibes are guaranteed.
