Eugene O'Leary (The Pedalling Pensioner) will cycle from Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle to Helsinki, as a fundraising effort for Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin, between the 21st. June and the 2nd. July. The distance is 1.060 kilometres and Eugene hopes to finish the cycle in time to fly home on 3rd. July.
Eugene has cycled 7,400 kilometres for Crumlin Children's Hospital to date. His aim is to reach the 10,000 kilometre mark by his 70th. birthday on 9th. of next January. This cycle will leave him with 1,540 kms. to do, to reach his target. He also hopes to cycle the Via de la Plata (a Camino route in Spain) before the end of the year and that will leave him with a short distance to cycle in Ireland in order to complete his target.
