Finish like this against France in Paris next week will lead to disaster and a likely end to a Grand Slam repeat.   

The Irish have defeated Italy in the RBS Six Nations opener in a tough yet comfortable encounter. Leading 23-7 at half time, Croke park crowd were anticipating a romping in the second half - but it never materialise. Ireland won 29-11.
Ireland opened with a Ronan O'Gara penalty on 9 minutes Ireland 3-0 Italy. 4 minutes later, a move from O'Gara to Trimble, to Rob Kearney - 7 metres from the line, the ruck feeds to D'Arcy - to O'Driscoll, - to Wallace - who feeds Jamie Heaslip - who goes over and down for a great Irish try. 8-0, it is converted by O'Gara 10-0.
On 25 minutes Italy win a penalty and score 10-3.
After the half-hour mark Ireland wins another penalty, which on-form O'Gara converts. Another try for Ireland at 35 minutes by O'Leary ...

France: Music Performance 'My Heart is in the East' in Irish Cultural Centre.

The Judith Mok Hamsa Ensemble will perform on 18th and 19th February at 7.30pm in the Centre Culturel Irlandais.

The performance will include: Nick Roth (saxophone), Oleg Ponomarev (violin), Cora Venus Lunny (viola), Francesco Turissi (percussion & keyboard) and Simon Jermyn (guitar). Judith Mok, partly of Sephardic descent, and her Dublin-based ensemble of world class musicians will give two concerts bringing together widely different styles of music from Jewish and Islamic cultures.Reservation is recommended for this event.

Germany: Celtic Rockers Garden Of Delight Perform in Germany.

The Isle of Innisfree in Freiburg will will play host to Celtic rockers Garden of Delight (G.O.D) on 12th February from 8pm..

The band is headed by Michael M. Jung and perform Celtic Rock and Irish Folk songs. G.O.D have been performing for over nine years in Germany, Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands with over 1300 concerts under their belts. Songwriter Michael M. Jung has written over 170 songs over the years and the band have recorded many CDs. With a blend of Reggae, Ska, Gothic, Metal and Irish traditional influences, the band's sound is unique and not to be missed.

Netherlands: Celtic Group Harmony Glen in Concert in Netherlands.

Irish folk group Harmony Glen will perform in concert at the Tribue to Ireland Festival in Kennemer Theater, Beverwijk on 13th February.

The band have been together since 2005, recorded three CDs and are regular visitors to Europe touring and playing music. Various praise for the group includes "Irish Folk not for the faint of heart" ( Brighton Fringe Festival), "Irish Folk music with a twist" ( FestivalReviews.com), "Better played and with more feeling than many Irish groups" (Dirty Linen) and "The best foreign Irish folk group I've heard in years" (Feakle Festival).

Spain: Irish dancing in Spain: Rosalía Hall.

Rosalía Hall is an Irish dancing instructor, the only one in Madrid in fact..

his isn’t always easy and, although the groups of students may not be very numerous, all of her classes have a common factor: passion for Irish dancing.
How did your interest in Irish dancing start? When I was little I got hold of an Irish music CD and a VHS video cassette about this type of dancing and that is where it all started. Years later I found a small shop which sold products from Ireland. The shop was owned by Sheila Blooquist, of the Chicago Trinity Dancers, whom I started with. The classes were given at the James Joyce Irish Pub in Madrid (ex Kitty O’Shea’s). I then continued with Ronan McCormack, from River Dance. Anyway I finished me training in Ireland.

Croatia: Belfast Food with concerts planned already for St. Patrick's Day.

Belfast Food is a music band from Rijeka, Croatia, performing Irish folk and rock music under their current name since 1996.

You must have listen thier song on national charts at least once.
Belfast Food had several original hit singles, such as "Mate i Matilda", "Van iz grada", "Trivijalna stvar", "Lagano lagano". They have also created remakes of popular Irish songs, such as "Rocky Road to Dublin".

Sweden: An Eitre Performance at World Rythm Fest.

Celtic band An Eitre will be performing at Sweden's World Rythm Fest on 13th February..

Sunday 7th February, UEFA 2012 Senior draw took place in Warsaw. GpB: Russia, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland, FYR Macedonia, Armenia, Andorra; GpC:Group C: Italy, Serbia, Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Estonia, Faroe Islands.

An Eitre are a spectacular five piece band who have their own interpretation of Irish traditional music. Driving Irish instrumental dance tunes and ballads and stories from the vast store of Irish and Scottish songs. An Eitre have played together since January 2003 frequently touring Sweden and Germany, and Belgium lately. Eitre's debut CD "The Coming of Spring" was released in 2005. An Eitre have played at many important festivals through the years. Not to be missed!

Denmark: 'Paddy Comes Early' Party with Danish Irish Society.

The Paddy Comes Early Party will be held in advance of St. Patrick's Day.

This party takes place on 13th March in Copenhagen's Sprogcenter,Valdemarsgade 16 , 1665 V. This popular party takes place each year and includes all the spirit of the Day, but just a little bit earlier than the feast day itself. There will be more information about the party in the next Danish Irish Society newsletter and on the website.
