Rugby: RBS Six Nations - Irish defeat Italy - 1000s of Irish prepare to head to Paris this weekend

...a finish like this against France in Paris next week will lead to disaster and a likely end to a Grand Slam repeat.
Next weekend - Irish pubs will be thronged as Ireland play France - in Paris. 10s of 1000s of Irish have already made their plans to travel there for the match. The knowledge that the winner of this match may go on to win the Grand Slam or Six Nations - while a loss may mark the end of winning it - makes this a crunch match indeed.

The Irish have defeated Italy in the RBS Six Nations opener in a tough yet comfortable encounter. Leading 23-7 at half time, Croke park crowd were anticipating a romping in the second half - but it never materialise. Ireland won 29-11.
Ireland opened with a Ronan O'Gara penalty on 9 minutes Ireland 3-0 Italy. 4 minutes later, a move from O'Gara to Trimble, to Rob Kearney - 7 metres from the line, the ruck feeds to D'Arcy - to O'Driscoll, - to Wallace - who feeds Jamie Heaslip - who goes over and down for a great Irish try. 8-0, it is converted by O'Gara 10-0.
On 25 minutes Italy win a penalty and score 10-3.
After the half-hour mark Ireland wins another penalty, which on-form O'Gara converts. Another try for Ireland at 35 minutes by O'Leary ...

Soccer: Soccer Senior - European Championships draw good for Republic of Ireland - tougher for Northern Ireland

Soccer: MEANWHILE - if you are based in Continental Europe - please come out and support the following Repubic of Ireland or Northern Ireland Underage, U21, Men and Women and Senior teams in action over the coming months- in Portugal, San Marino, Albania, Greece, Poland, France, Ukraine, belgium, Serbia, Turkey, Israel, Spain, Macedonia and Sweden

Sunday 7th February, UEFA 2012 Senior draw took place in Warsaw. GpB: Russia, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland, FYR Macedonia, Armenia, Andorra; GpC:Group C: Italy, Serbia, Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Estonia, Faroe Islands.

The 2012 UEFA European Championship Finals will be held in Poland and the Ukraine - the 51 teams were split into 9 groups of 5 or 6. On Sunday 7th February, the draw took place in Warsaw.

The 2012 UEFA European Championship Finals will be held in Poland and the Ukraine. This will be preceded by 2 years of qualification for the 51 competing countries from Europe - under UEFA's juristiction.
This qualification begins this September - the 51 teams were split into 9 groups of 5 or 6. On Sunday 7th February, the draw took place in Warsaw.
Republic of Ireland were a 3rd seed team, Northern Ireland were also a 3rd seed.
Republic of Ireland has been drawn in Group B - with Russia, Slovakia, FYR Macedonia, Armenia and Andorra.
